Sub-jr National Archery: Ranjit bags 3 medals

International Ranjit Naik bagged three silvers medals in the 36th Sub-Junior National Archery Championship, held at Rohtak, Haryana, from January 1 to 6. A student of Bhubaneswar-based Kalinga Institute of Social Sciences (KISS), Ranjit won the three medals in boys 30, 50 and 70 metres recurve events. With this achievement he qualified to represent India in the Youth Olympics to be held in Chine from 14.

Ranjit was the lone medal winner in a 12-member Odisha squad that participated in the Rohtak National championship. The squad was accompanied by coach Rajesh Hasdak and manager Tapan Murmu.

Odisha squad: Recurve (Boys): Ranjit Naik (KISS, Bhubaneswar); Rajesh Madhi, Dasmat Bhatra, Raj Kumar Naik (all SAI-HAL, Sunabeda).
Indian Round (Girls): Sakuntala Sabar (KISS), Renuka Oram (SAI, Sundargarh), Golap Naik, Lopamudra Nayak (both Govt High School, Matkambeda, Keonjhar).
Indian Round (Boys): Sashi Kanta Munda (Govt HS, Matkambeda, Keonjhar), Suna Santa (SAI-HAL Sunabeda), Nilanchal Hial, Ghanashyam Dharua (both Govt High School, Chudapali, Bolangir).
